From the Oscar winning producer of An Inconvenient Truth comes a new film on the American health crisis caused by low quality food production and deceptive marketing. “Everything we’ve been told about food and exercise for the past 30 years is dead wrong,” the film warns, backing this claim with documented testimony from some of the nation’s leading health experts and research institutions.
Fed Up shines a light on the misleading and dangerous practices employed by some of the biggest names in the American food and beverage industry, encouraging viewers to re-evaluate the diet Americans have grown so accustomed to over the past 3 decades. The film debuted in theaters May 9th and featured former president Bill Clinton, former FDA commissioner David A. Kessler, and activist Michael Pollan.

- Of the more than 600,000 food products in America, 80% have added sugar.
- In America, one of the most common forms of added sugar is high fructose corn syrup, which Harvard researchers have recently linked with diabetes and the development of cancer (see below, Sugar: The Friendly Enemy).
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans show that added sugar stimulates the brain with feel-good chemicals, just like cocaine and heroin. Health experts say this creates a desire to consume increasingly large amounts of sugar every day, just like a drug addiction.
Fed Up with Sugar
A growing body of research indicates that sugar is harmful to much more than just the teeth and gums. Two landmark studies released in 2011 and 2012 tied sugar to the development of obesity, diabetes, and cancer. For more on this study, visit our article Sugar: The Friendly Enemy.
