Oral Cancer Screening in Miami, Florida
There is an 80-90 percent survival rate when oral cancer is detected early, according to the Oral Cancer Foundation. Unfortunately, many individuals are unaware of how prevalent and serious this disease is. When diagnosed in later stages, oral cancer is estimated to have a 43 percent mortality rate. Screening for oral cancer is the best way to ensure early detection.
At Assure A Smile, we are pleased to offer advanced oral cancer screenings with all-new OralID™ technology. This procedure is quick, painless, and effective in identifying the most common incidences of oral cancer.
Get Proactive in the Fight Against Oral Cancer
What is OralID™?
OralID™ is a technology used to identify oral abnormalities at an earlier stage compared to other oral cancer screening methods. OralID™ accomplishes this through the use of leading edge fluorescence technology to screen for oral cancer, without the need for rinses, dyes, or use of invasive instruments.
The Power of Fluorescence Technology
The key to the effectiveness of the OralID™ is the use of fluorescence technology. Using a safe spectrum of fluorescent light that measures between 435–460 nanometers (nm), OralID™ illuminates lesions within the oral cavity that are abnormal, pre-cancerous, or cancerous.
How it works. OralID™ emits a light that is blue in color. When light from the OralID™ shines on the oral tissues, it will appear blue when tissues are healthy and green when tissues are abnormal. Dr. Herrmann is trained to use OralID™ and is experienced in identifying abnormal tissue that might be pre-cancerous or cancerous.
A routine exam with OralID™ usually confirms healthy and normal oral tissues. However, when abnormal tissues are identified, Dr. Herrmann gives guidance and support so patients may take immediate action to seek effective oral cancer treatment, as needed.
