Ease the Anxiety of Visiting the Dentist

It’s not uncommon for a person to avoid going to the dentist because of the unpleasant feelings it induces, such as anxiety. While most holistic dentists will do what they can to make sure a patient feels as much at ease as possible, there are several ways to make dental anxiety manageable so you’re receiving the oral care needed to keep the mouth and the body in good shape.

A major reason why people experience dental anxiety is because of the sound of the tools dentists use to perform dental work even if they have no issue with the physical sensations caused by the tools. One way to combat this is to drown out the noise. If necessary, consider bringing headphones to the appointment and have some kind of soothing audio playing. This could be something like a preferred genre of music or an audiobook that will help with taking the mind off of the work being done and the sound of the tools.

Breathing exercises can also be useful when sitting on the dentist chair as they assist with relieving stress and anxiety. If headphones alone aren’t effective enough in reducing the dental anxiety, deep breathing can add that extra bit of relief to ease the jitters.

Don’t allow anxiety to stop you from getting the attention you need to keep your smile bright. Book your appointment and we’ll help you however we can so you feel calm and comfortable.
