Are You Dealing with Halitosis?

You’ve probably dealt with someone whose breath was less than pleasant. This can make face to face conversations or intimate moments with a romantic partner extremely uncomfortable. Thankfully, there are easy ways to make sure you don’t become a victim of bad breath, also known as halitosis.

In most cases, people with bad breath simply need to make better decisions when it comes to their dental hygiene habits. The moment you begin eating or drink something, particles from the food or liquid will start to break in and around the teeth. Hence, if you fail to brush or floss to get rid of these particles, they will create a plaque coating that leads to the foul smelling bacteria resulting in bad breath.

Then again, it may not be entirely your dental hygiene. If you deal with dry mouth, this may also cause bad breath. Because saliva assists with cleaning the mouth and removing the particles that lead to bad odors, if your mouth isn’t producing enough saliva it may begin to release an unpleasant odor. “Morning breath” is common but it shouldn’t be “all day breath”. Using tobacco products, certain medications or even health problems such as diabetes may increase the odds of suffering from halitosis.

There are ways to fight halitosis, and among the easiest is brushing and flossing at least two times a day. You should also scrape your tongue regularly and replace your toothbrush about every two months. Another thing you may wish to do is oil pulling, an all natural approach which involves gently swishing a tablespoon of coconut oil for about twenty minutes, then spitting it out and rinsing with warm water. Drinking plenty of water, eating foods like carrots, all of these can help fight bad breath.
