The Ties Between Your Teeth and Organs

Take some time to delve deep into Traditional Chinese Medicine or the way holistic dentists work and you’ll likely come across their beliefs regarding how all of the teeth are individually tied to a certain part of the body, even if you may be missing a tooth. These parts of the body are called meridians.

Meridians can be thought of as channels of sorts comprised of energy that travel specific paths throughout the body. Should something cause this energy to become blocked, it may cause symptoms such as pain or illness. Because the energy travels both ways to and from the teeth, missing a tooth, for example, can cause pain.

To give you an idea of how each tooth is tied to an organ or part of the body, let’s use the third molars, also known as the upper left and upper right wisdom teeth. These teeth are connected to important areas of the body like the limbic and central nervous system as well as the toes or the plantar area of the foot.

By having a foundation of how the teeth and body are intertwined, you can better educate yourself and understand why your oral health is just as important as taking care of the rest of the body. To read more, visit
